Vikings Storm the State of Fitchburg – Sentinel and Enterprise

The Fitchburg State men’s basketball team lost a 79-61 decision to Salem State in MASCAC action on Saturday afternoon at the Parkinson Gymnasium.

Dayne Allen had a double-double in his Falcons debut, posting 14 points, 11 rebounds, a steal and a block. Javon Taylor had 14 points, three boards and two assists while junior Darien Norwood added 10 points off the bench for FSU (2-10, 0-1 MASCAC).

Bromfield 103.5, Nashoba 76.5 Abby Eastman placed first in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:13.84 and second in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:14.89, while teaming up with Grace Roth, Emma Reiner and Bethany Anderson to break the school record in the medley relay with a winning time of 2:04.73.

Anderson placed first in the 50m freestyle with a school best and cut time of 26.53 and second in the 100m freestyle with a time of 1:01.69, while Roth won the 100m backstroke with a time of 1:10.69. The 400 freestyle relay (Roth, Eastman, Campbell Phillips, Reiner) placed first with a time of 4:28.46.

Bromfield 101, Nashoba 19 Thomas Hastings placed first in the 200m individual medley with a time of 2:44.00 and first in the 100m backstroke with a time of 1:12.65, while Peter DeCruz placed second in the 50m freestyle with a time of 37.51 .

Girls basketball

Algonquin 62, Fitchburg 40 Alyvia Smith led the Red Raiders (3-2) with 15 points Friday night. Tanila Council added 10 and Nevaeh Graham had nine.
