CLARKSVILLE, TN (NOW CLARKSVILLE) – Many people in Montgomery County received a public safety alert on their phones Saturday night about a possibly armed teenager.
The alert followed reports of gunshots at Ramblewood Apartments followed by a chase, sinking and arrest on Drake Road, just east of Junction 11, the office said. from the sheriff of Montgomery County.
Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, dispatch received a call for gunfire at Ramblewood Apartments, off Highway 48/13 just south of Clarksville, according to MCSO Lt. Mark Wojnarek.
A description of the vehicle, of a gray Nissan sedan, was provided. Deputies spotted the vehicle on the bypass and attempted to pull a traffic stop near Vista Lane, according to incident reports provided to Clarksville Now. The vehicle fled the deputy.
After a chase that continued down Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, the suspect driver lost control and crashed, with the Nissan ‘rolling over’ on Drake Road, according to reports.
There were three underage occupants. One was injured and LifeFlight was called. Another remained at the scene of the accident. The teenage driver fled into the line of woods, and the information was that he had a gun.
“The decision was made by the commanders on scene to use the alert in case someone spotted someone running in the area or tried to knock on a door. This was the most effective way to issue an alert fast in the area,” Wojnarek told Clarksville Now.
K9 deputies followed the driver and were able to apprehend him.
The Nissan had been reported stolen in Clarksville.
