Southeast Texas Transportation Week events kick off Sunday

Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange come together to observe Southeast Texas Transportation Week May 8-15, and there are plenty of events to attend.

There are more than 25 free community events to raise awareness of the role transportation plays in a community, according to a press release.

Rail, road, air, river and pipeline modes of transportation will be represented across the events.

“The transportation system in Southeast Texas is a primary reason developers choose to locate in Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange and surrounding areas,” the statement said. “With proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, interstate access, a strong draft canal, two airports, and extensive rail and pipeline networks that support thousands of jobs, Southeast Texas has a competitive advantage in economic development and growth and that is worth celebrating.
