Liverpool confirm Grujic’s departure
Liverpool have confirmed that midfielder Marko Grujic has left the club and joined FC Porto.
A statement on the club’s website read: “Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic sealed a permanent transfer to FC Porto today.
“The Serbian international returns to the Portuguese club after making 39 appearances and scoring two goals on loan in 2020-21.
“Grujic was Jürgen Klopp’s first signing as manager of the Reds when he agreed to move from Red Star Belgrade to Anfield in January 2016 before arriving later that year.
“He made eight appearances in his debut season with Liverpool and six more in 2017-18, then joined Cardiff City on loan for the second half of the campaign.
“Two productive seasons with Hertha BSC followed as Grujic enjoyed consistent playing time in the Bundesliga.
“He appeared in two League Cup appearances with the Reds early last season, scoring his first goal for the club in the 7-2 win at Lincoln City, before moving to Porto.
“Grujic has joined Klopp’s squad for this month’s pre-season training camp in Austria and will now bid farewell to join Porto permanently.
“Everyone at Liverpool FC thanks Marko for his contribution to the club and wishes him the best in his future career.”
