According to Athletic, Willian is among the players who want to leave Arsenal during the summer transfer window.
The Brazilian winger only joined Arsenal last summer, moving to the Emirates Stadium after leaving London rivals Chelsea.
The 32-year-old, who can also operate as a midfielder, was supposed to be a huge success at Arsenal, but things didn’t turn out that way.
Willian has made 16 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring one goal and providing five assists in the process.
The former Chelsea star also made three Europa League starts and six substitutes for Arsenal, providing two assists in the process.
Willian is 32 years old now, and it’s safe to say he’s past the prime of his life.
If the winger wants to leave, Arsenal technical director Edu should let him.
Willian may have joined Arsenal on a free transfer last summer, but, according to The daily mail, he could cost up to £ 35million on his three-year contract.
That’s a lot of money to pay a player in their 30s, especially one who is showing signs of decline.
Edu described the Brazilian winger as a player who has “a lot of fantastic attributes” on the pitch. official club website in August 2020.
That’s absolutely true, but the point is, Willian just hasn’t been good for Arsenal.
A mutual separation of paths would make sense.
