Addigy talks about the Apple in-company tech show

Apple’s continued corporate momentum means it’s grabbing a growing share of the business ecosystem, and the expansion is driving growth in the Apple device management ecosystem.

Addigy Innovate 2022

Reflecting this, Addigy recently announced plans to hold its annual Innovate 2022 conference later this month. I spoke with Jason Dettbarn, Founder and CEO, who said the event will feature keynotes and product presentations, including one hosted by The ethical hacker author Ralph Echemendia.

“With Apple’s renewed focus on the MacBook Pro line and business users, we’ve seen a significant increase in interest in our products over the past year,” Dettbarn said.

Businesses from all walks of life have accelerated their Apple rollouts since the coronavirus hit, giving employees the tools they need to stay productive while working remotely. “As of April 2020, 70% of employees reported working from home,” said Adam Pettit, founder and CEO of Kandji.

The year of the Mac

For example, the use of Mac laptops in the enterprise has increased by 63%, with most IT decision makers noting that employees want these machines. IDC says usage of macOS devices in U.S. businesses reached 23%, while iPhones accounted for 49% of business smartphones.

“It’s amazing to see the excitement and momentum generated by the Mac lineup powered by the M1 chip family among innovators, prestigious educational institutions and beyond,” said Susan Prescott, vice president, recently. – President of Enterprise and Education Marketing for Apple.

Dettbarn sees the same expansion.

“There is no doubt that enterprises are adopting Apple at a rapid pace, but growth is fundamentally limited by their struggle to integrate Apple into their current identity and security infrastructure,” he said. “The combination of working from home, a focus on employee retention, and the incredibly awesome new Apple Mac hardware are key drivers of this momentum. And yet, this momentum is still limited by the lack of integration of the business infrastructure.

Addigy, of course, offers solutions that help businesses integrate Apple’s ecosystems into their technology infrastructure.

Security can be a sticking point for growth

I asked Dettbarn if he thought Apple had reached its limits in terms of enterprise adoption. He thinks Apple’s increasingly capable machines and employee choice will continue to drive growth, but says tight security and integration will hold back an accelerated rollout.

As many in the industry agree, Dettbarn notes the impact of COVID-19 on enterprise IT:

“COVID has forced perimeter-based security to follow the path of the dodo bird. Companies needed to start really hardening the endpoint and, most importantly, identity-based management. Apple’s growing demand in enterprises also creates a higher security threat vector of exploiting an organization, as evidenced by the massive number of Apple vulnerabilities over the past 12 months.

He argues that the growing number of threats means companies need to take steps to secure their Mac fleet.

Addigy hopes to offer businesses some of what they need at its events. Promised highlights include a new user interface and policy management system; integration with third-party options such as Okta Identity Engine for managing identity certificates; and integration with Microsoft’s new compliance engine.

Preparation is the best line of defense

I also learned that the Echemendia presentation will consist of a security preparedness workshop based on real-world experience in which the author will explain how a company can prepare for an attack and what to do if attacked. . Naturally, this extends to promoting a correct internal environment for the disclosure of security incidents, employee training and a clear understanding of the roles each person should play in the event of an attack.
